The Coutts Centre sits on a quarter section of 100-year-old prairie homestead land just east of Nanton, featuring seven acres of perennial gardens and a collection of beautifully restored heritage buildings. The venue offers multiple indoor and outdoor spaces: the Hayshed Pavilion (a 2,300 sq ft event space with 3 chandeliers, accommodating up to 120 guests), the Chicken House (an open concept guesthouse for up to 60 guests), and the South Barn (for up to 36 guests). Each building has its own character and history tied to the original settlement.
Your wedding rental includes full property access during event hours, rehearsal time beforehand, all tables, chairs, linens, and setup/cleanup, plus a podium and PA system. The grounds offer unlimited photo opportunities across the expansive gardens, a charming greenhouse, an oversized gazebo with lights and power, and separate bar and patio areas. You'll have two character buildings available as bridal party dressing rooms, and staff remain on site throughout the day to assist.
The centre works with a list of preferred caterers and requires your own liquor license with a certified bartender. Tours are offered Wednesdays evenings and Sunday afternoons.

FAQs
Can I bring my own caterer?
Yes, you can bring an outside caterer provided they are a licensed business with a minimum of 5 million dollars in liability insurance. The centre maintains a list of preferred caterers who have worked at the venue and received good reviews. Homemade or potluck meals are not allowed, but commercially prepared items and cakes are acceptable.
What are the alcohol requirements?
You must provide your own liquor and obtain a liquor license. Your servers must be ProServe certified, and you need to provide a certified bartender. The bar closes at midnight, and all guests must be off the property by 12:30am.
What insurance do I need?
You must provide evidence of Special Event Liability insurance with limits of at least 2 million dollars per occurrence. The University of Lethbridge must be added as an additional insured. Your certificate should state that liquor liability is included if applicable.
