Maureen McLellan has been officiating weddings for over 15 years and has married more than 1,000 couples. Her approach is straightforward: your ceremony should feel like you. Whether you want something deeply personal, simple and legal, or anything in between, she writes and delivers ceremonies that match your story and vision.
Maureen serves Durham, York, Peterborough/The Kawarthas, and Northumberland, and travels throughout Ontario. She handles everything from fully custom-written ceremonies to elopements, vow renewals, and legal signings. She also supports couples who want a loved one to officiate by handling the legal paperwork and coaching them through delivery so the moment feels effortless and meaningful. No religion is included unless you specifically ask for it, and she welcomes LGBTQ+ couples and all family structures.

FAQs
Do you include religion in ceremonies by default?
No. Religion is not included unless you ask for it. If you'd like to weave in spiritual or religious elements, Maureen is happy to incorporate them, but only when you specifically request it. The ceremony is shaped entirely around what feels right for you.
Can we have a friend or family member officiate instead?
Yes. Ontario law requires a licensed officiant to legally marry you, but Maureen offers Legal Officiating Only options where she handles the legal paperwork while your loved one performs the meaningful ceremony. She also provides script writing and one-on-one coaching to help your friend or family member feel confident and ready.
How much does it cost and what does that include?
Pricing ranges from $495 to $695 depending on ceremony type. Up to 60 km of return travel is included in standard pricing. For venues beyond that, a travel fee applies and is quoted individually up front. There is no additional tax.
